About Diasurgical

Diasurgical is a collective of passionate developers dedicated to preserving and revitalizing the classic game Diablo 1. Our flagship project, DevilutionX, restores and enhances the original game, making it playable on modern platforms while remaining faithful to its roots.

Our work combines careful reverse engineering, community collaboration, and a love for classic gaming. The project started with painstaking analysis of original binaries, debug symbols, and compiler metadata, and grew into a global open-source effort. Many contributors had never met in real life, demonstrating the power of online collaboration across borders and cultures.

Beyond technical reconstruction, our goal is to preserve the spirit of Diablo 1 for future generations, while enabling modding and cross-platform play. From Linux to Nintendo Switch, DevilutionX showcases the adaptability of classic game design when paired with modern open-source practices.

We are grateful to the community for helping test, port, and improve the game, and we hope players old and new enjoy exploring Sanctuary as much as we enjoy bringing it back to life.
